The National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA) is one of the oldest universities in the Republic of Armenia. Its history started in 1921, with opening of a Technical Faculty in the newly established Yerevan State University.
At present the number of students studying at NUACA is about 3000, about 150 of which are foreign students from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Syria, India, Russia, Georgia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Italy and France. The number of academic staff exceeds 450; most of them have doctor or candidate of sciences degrees.
Educational process in the University is organised in a three-degree system, which includes Bachelor degree (full time – 4 years, part-time – 5 years), Master degree (full time – 2 years, part-time – 2.5 years), PhD degree (full time – 3 years, part-time – 4 years).
NUACA has numerous cooperation agreements with educational institutions in the EU countries (France, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Bulgaria), as well as in the United States, the Ukraine and CIS countries, Islamic Republic of Iran, People’s Republic of China and other countries. The university is actively integrated in European and regional grant programs such as TEMPUS, Erasmus Mundus, Erasmus+, Linaeus Palme, DAAD, IREX and others.
NUACA has been actively involved in European and regional grant programs such as TEMPUS, Erasmus Mundus, and currently Erasmus+. As a member of consortium, since 1996 NUACA has participated in seventeen TEMPUS, Erasmus Mundus and Erasmus+ programs.
The NUACA diploma granted to the graduates of the faculty of architecture is officially recognized by the French government as equivalent to the French diploma, as well as by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). In 2015 NUACA, in collaboration with the Evaluation High Council of Research and Higher Education (HCERES, France) and the Agencia Nacional de Calidad y Evaluación of Acreditación (ANECA, Spain) completed the process of accreditation, as a result of which the University became the first university in Armenia to receive a certificate of European accreditation for the duration of 5 years.
